He will compete with Alex Orji, who started three games for the Rebels last year before suffering a season-ending injury against UCLA. “They’ll battle it out.” Regardless of who wins, the offense will look different because both are more in-the-pocket type quarterbacks than their predecessor, Anthony Colandrea, who transferred to Nebraska. Expect less improvising, Mullen said.
FCS power North Dakota State joins Mountain West for football
North Dakota State, which has won 10 of the last 15 FCS national titles, has joined the Mountain West Conference as a football-only member starting in 2026.
Sources: Former Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell is joining the staff at Iowa as an offensive analyst. Norvell spent nine seasons as a college head coach at CSU and Nevada, authoring five bowl seasons. He' an Iowa graduate who served as an honorary captain in November.
As a player at Iowa, Norvell led the Hawkeyes to 35 wins over four year and four bowl games. He spent six seasons coaching in the NFL and coached as an assistant in college at places like Nebraska, UCLA, Oklahoma and Texas.
