— Tommy Rittenhouse threw two of his three touchdown passes to to Daniel Sobkowicz, Chris Taylor returned a kickoff 91 yards for a score, and unseeded Illinois State beat UC Davis 42-31 on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.

After a spate of upsets, there are familiar teams but also some newcomers at the top of the FCS bracket.

— Caden Pinnick threw two of his five touchdown passes to Zach Jones, Jordan Fisher had 140 yards rushing, which included a 50-yard touchdown run, and UC Davis beat Rhode Island 47-20 on Saturday night in the second round of the FCS playoffs.

— Caden Pinnick threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score to guide UC Davis to a 35-14 victory over Idaho on Saturday night.

— Trajan Sinatra kicked a 50-yard field goal with 52 seconds left, Dason Brooks had 219 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 24 carries, and Idaho State beat UC Davis 38-36 on Saturday to snap the Aggies' five-game win streak.

— Grant Harper threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns on 15-for-31 passing, Samuel Gbatu Jr. caught five passes for 108 yards and a score, and UC Davis defeated Northern Colorado, 27-16 on Saturday.
