Syracuse announced Tuesday that it had hired Siena's Gerry McNamara -- also a former star player with Syracuse -- as its next head coach.

McNamara’s hire will mark the return of one of the most popular players in school history. Throughout the interview process, Syracuse stressed NIL to candidates in top-third of the ACC.

Duke avoids historic upset, stops Siena in NCAA tournament
Duke barely avoided a shocking upset to open the NCAA tournament, with the No. 1 overall seed having to rally from 13 points down and going ahead for good in the final five minutes to beat 16th-seeded Siena 71-65 on Thursday.
