Sources: Michigan State athletic director J Batt and Kentucky have finalized a 6-year deal to make him the school’s next Athletic Director and CEO of Champions Blue, the school’s for-profit LLC. His fundraising ability led the Kentucky brass to target him. He’ll replace Mitch Barnhart, who retired after 24 years.

J Batt leaves Michigan State to serve as new AD at Kentucky

Kentucky has hired Michigan State AD J Batt to serve in the same position with the Wildcats as he returns to the SEC. Sources told ESPN that it is a six-year deal.

Sources: Michigan State AD J Batt has emerged as the target of Kentucky’s Athletic Director search. The deal is not finalized, but Kentucky is amid a strong push to bring Batt back to the SEC. Batt’s potential departure comes in the wake of Michigan State’s recent presidential transition. He ‘s also been the AD at Georgia Tech. He brings a reputation as a prolific fundraiser from his time at Alabama, ECU and Maryland coming up the ranks.
