Harrell, Auburn top Arkansas-Pine Bluff 91-59

Chris Denson added another 17 points for the Tigers (7-3). Tevin Hammond led Arkansas-Pine Bluff with 19 points.

The Golden Lions (2-10) took the lead on Ghiavonni Robinson's 3-pointer 14 seconds into the game, before Auburn rattled off 17 straight, and 26 of the next 30. Auburn led by at least 20 the rest of the way and took a 53-25 lead into halftime.

Auburn shot 65.4 percent from the field and made 10 of 19 3-point shots while Pine Bluff shot 32.8 percent.

Harrell's 19-point performance marked his 10th straight double-digit performance for the Tigers, as the junior guard has reached double figures in each of Auburn's games this season.

"I felt pretty confident going into the year that those two would be able to do exactly what they're doing, if not more," Auburn head coach Tony Barbee said of Harrell and Denson. "I think they're both doing a pretty good job of using their threat to score to make other guys better and get other guys shots."

The play of Auburn's high-scoring duo helped create for other Tigers, like freshman guard Dion Wade, who finished with 15 points, shooting 4-for-4 from behind the 3-point line.

"Having a player like that to create for you, and draw players in, as a 3-point shooter, that's the only thing you want," Wade said. "It's a part of their game, and it compliments my game, too, so it's a good thing."

Harrell scored 12 of his points in the first half and finished the game 4-for-6 from behind the 3-point line.

Auburn out-rebounded the Golden Lions 41-29, pulling down 32 defensive boards in the contest.

"In the first half, we did a bad job of rebounding," Auburn's Matthew Atewe said. "In the locker room at halftime, Coach Barbee challenged us to rebound so in the second half, we did a much better job in that regard."

Atewe led the Tigers with seven rebounds.

"I thought we swarmed," Barbee said. "We want to use these last two games in the non-conference to prepare ourselves for what's about to happen with the conference season. I thought we did a good job of not worrying who our competition was, and worrying about where we could get better. I think defensively we did a pretty good job overall."

Auburn will return to action Saturday, hosting Florida A&M in its non-conference finale. Arkansas-Pine Bluff opens SWAC play at Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.
