Moore scores 19 as Deacons rout Eagles, 74-48

With their leading scorer sidelined, Moore scored a season-high 19 points in leading Wake Forest to a 74-48 Atlantic Coast Conference victory over Boston College on Sunday night.

Codi Miller-McIntyre had 14 points, Bryant Crawford added 12, and Mitchell Wilbekin and John Collins had 11 each for the Deacons (11-16, 2-13 ACC), who snapped an 11-game conference losing streak.

"I was having fun, just playing," said Moore, who made 7 of 8 from the field and 5 of 8 free throws in 20 minutes.

"We've been on a losing streak, so we wanted to take all our anger out on them. That's exactly what we did, and we didn't let up."

Sophomore guard Cornelius Hudson, who had scored a career-high 22 points in Wake Forest's double-overtime loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, was also kicked off the team for violating those same rules.

Instead of collapsing due to Thomas' absence and Hudson's dismissal, Wake Forest coach Danny Manning said the team emerged stronger.

"This was a very good sign for our team," Manning said. "We've always had the `next man up' mentality. We got great contributions from a lot of guys across the board, but Doral came out . this was the best I've ever seen him play."

Eli Carter scored 18 points and Garland Owens added 13 for Boston College, who have now lost 14 consecutive games overall and 15 straight in ACC play.

"For whatever reason, we just didn't come to play," Eagles coach Jim Christian said. "I'm embarrassed, because we can play much better than that. The last two games are probably the best two games we've played all year, but tonight we were awful in all facets."

The Deacons took their biggest lead in the half, 37-4, on Crawford's fast-break layup with 3:33 remaining. But Boston College closed out the half with a 10-4 run, capped by Carter's long 3-pointer at the buzzer.

"It just shows the importance of everybody on the team," Miller-McIntyre said. "One person goes down, somebody else has to come in and pick things up. Doral came in and played an excellent game. He definitely picked us up with his energy."

Boston College: Tied their lowest-scoring first half of the season, set Feb. 6 in a 79-47 loss to No. 19 Louisville. . Shot just 17.2 percent from the field (5 of 29) and made 2 of 15 3-pointers in the first half, but did significantly better in the second half: 44.8 percent from the field (13 of 29) and 4 of 15 on 3s.

Wake Forest: Miller-McIntyre came close to a triple-double, finishing with nine rebounds and seven assists. . Shot 51.6 percent in the first half (16 of 31) and made 4 of 8 3-pointers, and finished the game at 45.8 percent shooting (27 of 59) and 8 of 18 on 3s.

ON THE BOARDS

Wake Forest outrebounded the Eagles 45-30 in Sunday's game, with its plus-15 advantage the most in an ACC game this season and just the fourth time the Deacons have been on the plus side in rebounding in 15 league games.
