Fischer helps Marquette edge Georgetown 88-87

Georgetown trailed much of the game, but made a 14-6 run late in the second half and Isaac Copeland's 3-pointer with 3:53 put the Hoyas up one, 78-77.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera's jumper with eight seconds left put Georgetown up 87-86, but his foul with 1.2 seconds to go put Fischer on the line and he made both. Copeland's last-second heave from three-quarters court hit the back rim.

Fischer was 9 of 11 from the field and 5 of 6 from the line for Marquette (19-11, 8-9 Big East). Jajuan Johnson and Haanif Cheatham had 15 apiece, while Traci Carter had 11 points and seven assists.

Freshman star Henry Ellenson scored 10 points with 11 rebounds before leaving the game with a left ankle injury after hitting a jumper with 7:20 left. The 6-foot-11 forward had to be helped back to the locker room.

Ellenson, an in-state product who was highly touted out of high school, is considered a potential lottery pick in this year's NBA draft.

"When Henry went down, I thought it took the wind out of our sails a little bit," coach Steve Wojciechowski said. "But our guys showed really good toughness. We bent, but we didn't break."

Copeland led Georgetown (14-16, 7-10) with a career-high 32 points. Smith-Rivera finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
