7th-seed Stetson reaches A-Sun final, tops Lipscomb 96-75

The Hatters will play at No. 4 seed Florida Gulf Coast, which upset top-seeded North Florida in the other semifinal, with an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Stetson, however, is ineligible for the NCAA tournament. If the Hatters win Sunday, the NCAA tourney berth reverts to regular-season champion North Florida, which lost its semifinal by 33 points to Florida Gulf Coast.

Stetson maintained a double-digit lead over the final 19 minutes of the game.

Newton was 9 of 18 from the field and finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds while Pegg was 9 of 11 to score 22 points to help pace Stetson (12-21).

Garrison Mathews scored 27 points to lead Lipscomb (12-21).
