Iona runs away from Canisius 71-55 in MAAC quarterfinals

The Gaels (20-10) advance to Sunday's semifinals and will play the winner of Saturday's contest between No. 3 seed Siena (20-11) and No. 6 seed Manhattan (13-17).

Iona led 43-28 at halftime after making 9 of 17 3-pointers (52.9 percent), led by English and Isaiah Williams, with three 3s each. Six of Iona's seven made field goals in the first 8:25 of the game were from behind the arc.

English hit his fifth 3 and Iona led by 21 points with 14:16 left in the second half. Canisius trailed by double digits the rest of the way.

Williams finished with four 3s, 18 points and seven assists. Rickey McGill added 14 for the Gaels, which shot 43.3 percent from long distance overall.
