Jones scores 19, hits big free throws, in Richmond's win
A 3-pointer by Joe Sherburne got UMBC within one with 15 seconds left but Jones made four free throws and T.J. Cline two to counter four points from Jairus Lyles.
Cline and Khwan Fore added 15 points each for the Spiders (5-4) to end a two-game losing streak and snap a three-game win streak for the Retrievers (7-2).
Lyles matched his season high with 29 points. Sherburne added 19.
UMBC led 41-33 at halftime behind 19 points from Lyles.
Lyles scored the first six points of the second half to give UMBC its largest lead. But Richmond outscored the Retrievers 23-8 over 10-plus minutes to lead 56-55 with 7:10 left. Fore and Jones made 3-pointers to give Richmond the lead for good, 66-62, with 1:50 remaining.
