Johnson hit 4 of 6 from 3-point range and added five rebounds and three assists for the Big Green (3-4). Chris Knight had 13 points and Brendan Barry chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Aaron Calixte and Vernon Lowndes Jr. scored 13 apiece to pace the Black Bears (2-8). Lowndes added five rebounds and Andrew Fleming scored 10.

Johnson buried a 3-pointer with 1 second left in the first half and Dartmouth pulled away from a 25-all tie to lead 32-27 at intermission.

Aaryn Rai and Barry opened the second half with 3-pointers and the Big Green quickly stretched their lead to 38-27. But Maine battled back to knot the score at 50 on Fleming's 3-point play and Dennis Ashley's 3-pointer midway through the second half. Lowndes' layup with 2:11 remaining in the game pulled the Black Bears even at 63, but Johnson scored seven and Knight hit 3 of 4 free throws to preserve the victory.

Dartmouth shot 52 percent (26 of 50) from the floor and 47.6 percent (10 of 21) from long range. Maine made 25 of 54 shots (46.3 percent), but just 30 percent (6 of 20) from beyond the arc.
