No. 3 Baylor's winning streak ends at 25 in loss to Oklahoma

Kaylon Williams and Sharane Campbell-Olds each scored 15 points, and Oklahoma defeated the third-ranked Lady Bears 68-64 on Wednesday night to end their win streak at 25 games.

Baylor already had clinched the Big 12 regular-season title, and coach Kim Mulkey said that was why the usual effort wasn't there.

"You know, when you win the league this early, sometimes, this can happen with youth," she said.

Peyton Little added 13 points and Gioya Carter had 12 for the Sooners (18-9, 12-4 Big 12), who clinched the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament. The Sooners outscored the Lady Bears 18-10 from the free throw line and remained unbeaten at home this season.

"We knew that coming into the game, it was going to be a challenge," Baylor forward Nina Davis said. "You knew the game was going to be aggressive and physical. Give Oklahoma credit. They came out, and I just feel they wanted it more than us."

Davis had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Alexis Prince added 12 points for Baylor (26-2, 15-1).

The Lady Bears' only other loss this season came to Kentucky on Nov. 17. They were tied for the second-longest winning streak in the country with Princeton, one behind UConn.

Niya Johnson, the nation's leader in assists, had just five. She had 17 in the first meeting, an 89-66 win for Baylor on Feb. 11 in Waco, Texas.

The score was tied at 64 in the final minute when Williams was fouled. She made the second of two free throws to put Oklahoma up by a point with 30.5 seconds to play.

Baylor's Imani Wright missed an off-balance jumper, and Carter rebounded, was fouled and made two free throws with 14.6 seconds left.

Wright missed a 3, Dekeiya Cohen missed a putback and Oklahoma's Campbell-Olds rebounded. She made one of two free throws to put the game out of reach.

Oklahoma rolled out to a 12-2 lead in the first five minutes. Mulkey took all five starters, including Davis, out of the game with 14:15 left in the first half, and Davis didn't come back for six minutes. Baylor rallied without her and trimmed its deficit to 16-15 before Oklahoma answered.

Oklahoma rallied and pushed its lead back up to 35-27 by halftime. Baylor trailed at the break for just the fourth time all season. The Sooners held Davis to six points on 2-for-6 shooting in the first half.

Davis got going early in the second half with two buckets that helped cut Oklahoma's lead to 35-33. A free throw by Davis tied the game at 45, and Baylor led by six before Oklahoma rallied in the final minutes.
