No. 9 Seminoles beat NC State 72-52

The Seminoles capped off an undefeated home season with Shakayla Thomas scoring 13 points and Brittany Brown adding 10 points and 12 rebounds in a 72-52 win over North Carolina State on Thursday night.

FSU went 14-0 at home this season for the first time in program history.

"Undefeated at home," Semrau said. "We have talked about that since Day 1. To have that honor is huge."

Adut Bulgak had 10 points and nine rebounds for FSU (26-3, 13-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which has tied the program record for most regular-season wins.

FSU has won four straight games and 13 of 14 overall.

Dominique Wilson had 19 points and six rebounds to lead NC State (16-12, 7-8), but she fouled out with five minutes left in the game.

Thomas had nine points and Brown eight points and seven rebounds as Florida State jumped to a 39-27 halftime lead. The Seminoles were not challenged in the second half, leading by as many as 24 points.

FSU shot 26 of 67 (38.8 percent) from the floor. Seven players had at least six points as the Seminoles showcased what Semrau thinks is her deepest team since she arrived in 1997.

"There's just not a lot of drop-off," Semrau said. "When you put players in that aren't in the starting lineup, they give you a different weapon. That's the interesting piece to me. It makes us really hard to guard."

Miah Spencer had nine points for NC State, which shot just 17 of 61 (27.9 percent) from the floor.

The Seminoles outrebounded NC State 54-35. On the season, FSU has won the rebounding battle in 26 of 29 games and averages a 13-rebound margin per game.

"That's one of our strengths," Brown said. "Our two things that we do great is defend and rebound. Every game that we play, we've been trying to focus on that."

Added Semrau: "It's the most relentless rebounding team we've ever had. And that is a huge difference maker."

Four days after she had a triple-double in a win at Boston College, Leticia Romero had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Despite having one game left in the regular season, FSU has clinched the No. 2 seed in next week's ACC tournament. Notre Dame has secured the top seed.
