All 12 Maryland players score in 73-point win over Wagner

So far, Frese likes what she sees.

Lexie Brown scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half to lead six Maryland players in double figures as the No. 10 Terrapins cruised to a 97-24 victory over Wagner on Sunday.

Kiara Leslie had 11 points and 10 rebounds while Brionna Jones also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Maryland (2-0). Malina Howard, Brene Moseley and Tierney Pfirman finished with 10 points apiece.

"I thought for us, it was a great defensive effort," Frese said. "I thought our defense being able to change it up, utilizing the depth within our team, we were really able to throw a lot of looks that caught them off-guard. On offense, we were unselfish and really got into a better rhythm as the game went on."

Wagner (0-2) was held to just seven points in the first half, which was the lowest the Terps allowed in 16 seasons under Frese. Jordyn Peck led the Seahawks with seven points.

Maryland has won 110 of 116 non-conference games at home since 2002.

Brown scored seven points, Howard had four rebounds and the Terps jump out to a 23-5 lead midway through the first half. Maryland continued to dominate with a steal and layup by Moseley that extended the lead to 49-7 at the break.

"With this team, everybody has the ability to score in double-figures," Brown said. "I think it's fun for me to start the game off and then be able to distribute and let everybody follow my lead."

Wagner was held scoreless in the final eight minutes of the first half and shot just 3 of 25 (12 percent) from the field. The second half was not much better for the Seahawks.

Jones scored six points and Maryland increased the margin to 62-11 with 16 minutes remaining in the game. All 12 of Maryland's players scored points.

"I think my teammates just found me when I was open," Jones said. "I tried to crash the boards as hard as I could this game to help my team start off on a break."

TIP-INS

Maryland: Brown, a preseason All-Big 10 selection, has scored in double-figures in both games this season and has emerged as the Terps' go-to player on offense. Brown's quickness creates matchup problems for opposing guards and she is equally adept at scoring and distributing the ball.

Wagner: Guard Jasmine Nwajei is looking to build on last season when she was named the NEC Rookie of the Year. However, the sophomore and the rest of her team struggled mightily against Maryland and its quick and athletic lineup. Coming off a career-high 32 points in the season opener against VCU, Nwajei made just of 2 of 18 from the field against the Terps and was held to just five points.

STOUT DEFENSE

Maryland had one of its best defensive efforts in program history. The Terps held Wagner to 24 points, which was just two more than the record of 22 allowed against Morgan State in 1974 and Shippensburg in 1972. Maryland's 73-point margin of victory also fell just short of the team record of 75 against Delaware State in 2011.
