No. 4 Baylor women roll to 96-42 victory over Grambling St.

Nina Davis and freshman Beatrice Mompremier each had 18 points, leading five players in double figures for the No. 4 Lady Bears in a 96-42 win over Grambling State on Sunday. It was their 157th consecutive win at home over a non-ranked opponent, a streak that spans more than 13 years.

"It's a teaching process for some of them. When you're young ... you're not stupid," Mulkey said. "You look at talented teams and then you look at teams that may not be as talented, and sometimes you may coast. As a coach, I might be a little more relaxed, but I'm still intense and still looking at combinations and still coaching."

Baylor (9-0) jumped to a 9-0 lead only 2 1-2 minutes into its third lopsided victory in five days. The Lady Bears beat Rice, Northwestern State and Grambling by an average margin of 49 points before going into exam week at school.

Khadijiah Cave had 15 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double in the last three games. That included seven offensive boards for the 6-foot-3 junior post.

Kristy Wallace had 13 points and Kalani Brown, another freshman, scored 12 as the Bears shot 59 percent (39 of 66) from the field.

"I think that motivation is always there. I think every time you step on the floor you have to give 100 percent effort no matter what," Wallace said. "It doesn't matter who you're playing, you just have to give it your all."

Wallace made a 3-pointer on the game's opening shot and then her jumper capped the opening run.

The Lady Tigers, from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, trailed 11-6 after Yosha Watson made a jumper with 6:19 left in the first quarter. Baylor then went on a 25-0 run over the next 11 minutes.

Brown had eight points in that big spurt, including consecutive layups at the end of the first quarter for a 22-6 lead. Mompremier, a 6-4 post, had a run-ending three-point play that stretched the lead to 36-6 with 5 minutes left in the first half.

Bre'Nae Andrews had 14 points to lead Grambling (2-5), whose only player taller than 6 feet is a freshman who didn't' play.

"I think my kids played their hearts out, they played extremely hard. I am super proud of my girls, the score is not a reflection of what they gave today," Grambling coach Nadine Domond said. "They left everything on the court, all you ask is to execute the game plan and they did that."
