No. 4 Baylor women win 10th straight, 81-49 over Kansas

First of all, it was family day for the No. 4 Lady Bears and everybody got some playing time. There was also the opportunity to get the starters some rest before four of their next six conference games on the road, and Baylor was home against the only Big 12 team without a league victory.

Everything worked out Saturday, when the Lady Bears led throughout to win their 10th consecutive Big 12 game, 81-49 over Kansas.

"I was going to sub a lot and let everybody get an opportunity to see their kid play today. When you do that, it takes you out of rhythm, takes you out of sync," Mulkey said. "We won. That's all that matters."

Alexis Prince had 14 points in 24 minutes, her most extensive action in nine games since returning from arthroscopic surgery in November for a torn meniscus in her right knee.

"It was big for my confidence, showing me that I can still play and get better every game," Prince said. "I feel good. Just taking it day-by-day, and each practice, getting better and see if I can get more reps each game."

Kylee Kopatich had 14 points to lead Kansas (5-18, 0-12). Lauren Aldridge scored 12 and Aisia Robertson had 10 points.

Prince had eight points, including back-to-back 3-pointers, in an 18-2 run that put Baylor up 56-25 with 2:10 left in the third quarter.

"I said this to coach Mulkey at our place: I think they're looking at potentially another Final Four," Kansas coach Brandon Schneider said. "She was worried about their depth, but it's nice to see that they're getting some guys back healthy."

The lopsided victory came even as Alexis Jones, the Lady Bears' second-leading scorer at 15.1 points per game, was held scoreless while taking only two shots in 16 minutes. Jones had three personal fouls.

Baylor never trailed after scoring the game's first eight points and led by at least double figures the rest of the game after Brown's layup with just over 8 minutes left in the second quarter.

"Definitely a little bit more comfortable being on the floor, gelling as a team. We still have stuff to learn," Brown said. "There's still some things that we have to work out, but I think we're get better every day."

Baylor led 16-7 at the end of the first quarter, when the Jayhawks had more turnovers (nine) than points. Kansas had six more turnovers before finally scoring in the second quarter, on a 3-pointer by Alexis Robertson when the Jayhawks were down 27-10. Kansas had only six turnovers after halftime and finished with 23 overall, only one more than the Lady Bears.

Kansas: The Jayhawks shot 34 percent from the field (19 of 60). ... Kansas attempted only two free throws in the game.
