The Golden Bears (1-1), whose coach Lindsay Gottlieb graduated from Brown in 1999, dominated statistically everywhere but shooting, where Shayna Mehta poured in a career-high 33 points, knocking down a Brown record nine 3-pointers on 14 attempts.
Cal had 58 rebounds to 31 for Brown (2-1) with a 26-11 advantage on the offensive end for a 46-22 difference on points in the paint.
