Top ranked Baylor dominates K-State 71-48

Brown's nice feed sets up Egbo's and-1

On Wednesday night, the Lady Bears shot 58 percent in a 71-48 win over Kansas State behind a double-double by Kalani Brown who had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Chloe Jackson scored 16 points and No. 1 Baylor used a good shooting night and solid defense to rout Kansas State 71-48 on Wednesday night.

Juicy Landrum added 15 points, Lauren Cox 14 and Kalani Brown had 10 and 12 rebounds for the Lady Bears (22-1, 12-0 Big 12 Conference), who beat Kansas State for the 31st straight time. Baylor has also won 35 in a row in the regular season against Big 12 foes and 33 consecutive conference games on the road.

"My teammates made some good screens for me and got me open to help me score," Landrum said.

Baylor dominated in almost all facets of the contest outrebounding the Wildcats 40-29, outscoring them 28-22 in the paint and had 15 more assists than K-State.

"We are big and long at a lot of positions, which helps us alter the shot by our presence," Mulkey said. "I also thought we were really good at finding the open player. They decided they'd double team Kalani which left other's open like Juicy and Chloe and they don't know but we have others who can score, too."

K-State shot 24 three-point shots, but only made four on the night after hitting 14 on Sunday in a win over Oklahoma.

"Defend the three," Mulkey said about their game plan. "We knew they would shot it about 30 times and they almost did. We told our team to stay on the floor and don't give up open looks. I thought we were outstanding to start the game and throughout defending the three ball."

The Lady Bears jumped all over the Wildcats in the first quarter, outscoring them 21-9. They led 40-22 at the half as Baylor shot 17-for-28 from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Landrum had 12 of her points in the first half, making all five of her shots.

"Baylor did a lot of good things against us and we struggled all night," Jeff Mittie said. "There just weren't very good shots us available and we couldn't spread the well enough. They had a good awareness of the players who were coming off good games so give them the credit."

Baylor scored 19 points off turnovers and had six fast break points in the winning effort. The Lady Bears fast paced play is something that Mulkey does intentionally.

"We want to wear them down by running up and down the floor as much as we can," she said. "We might not score every fast break opportunity we get, but they are going to get tired and hopefully miss shots later in the game because of it."

Peyton Williams scored 11 points and Kayla Goth had 10 for Kansas State (15-10, 6-7).

BIG PICTURE

It will be nearly impossible for any Big 12 team to beat Baylor if they shoot as well as they did Wednesday night. If the Lady Bears are hitting shots, there might not even be a team in the country that can.

K-State will need to leave this one behind them as they take on a ranked Texas team next, who they beat earlier this season.

UP NEXT

Baylor will return home to host Oklahoma on Saturday.

K-State goes to Texas to face off against the Longhorns on Sunday.
