  • 10': Carlos finds space on the right and whips in a trademark cross. Raul stretches but can't make contact at the near post.
  • 11': Zidane breaks the offside trap on the right flank. He sprints towards the byline, loses control and the ball runs out for a goalkick.
  • 12': Guily combines with Morientes and tries to go around Carlos. The Brazilian stretches to make a tcakle in the box, Guily takes a tumble but the ref says no penalty.
  • 13': Casillas punches clear from a corner. Guily hits a shot straight into Meija on the edge of the box.
  • 14': Zidane skips away from Cisse, looks up and tries a 25-yard-chip. Roma scurries along his line to palm the ball over for a corner.
  • 15': Figo whips the ball into the box. Roma rushes off his line and plucks the ball out of the air.
  • 16': Guily chips the ball over the defence for Prso, who takes a poor touch and allows Salgado to make a tackle.
  • 17': Guily takes control on the edge of the box and fires a shot into Borja. The ball drops to the midfielder again and this time he shoots wide.
  • 18': Ronaldo combines well with Zidane in a conjested area of the pitch, but Rodriguez manages to get a foot in and break up the attack.
  • 19': Monaco are fighting their way into this match following a slow start.
  • 20': Salgado rides a challenge and brings the ball out of defence for Madrid.
  • 21': Salgado sprints forward and collides with Evra. The Madrid defender stays down and Prso knocks the ball out of play.
  • 22': Prso whips in a cross, Guti miscontrols on the edge of his box but eventually smuggles the ball clear. Salgado is back on his feet.
  • 23': Figo gets a yard on Evra and crosses from the right. Roma scoops in the ball at his near post.
  • 24': Rothen finds Evra on the overlap. The defender continues his run and then blasts over the bar.
  • 25': Rothen finds space on the left a delivers a cross. Helguera misses his header but Guly hits a fresh-air shot and the chance goes begging.
  • 26': Monaco probe but can't find a way through. Prso takes a dive on the edge of the box to fool the ref and Monaco have a freekick.
  • 27': Morientes and Guily stand over the ball.....
  • 28': .....Morientes hits a ferocious strike and Casillas does well to palm the ball past the post.
  • 29': Slack passing from Guti allows Monaco possession. Evra motors down the left and beats Borja, Helguera is beaten too but brings down the fullback. Helguera gets booked.
  • 30': Casillas comes to claim a cross but spills the ball. A swarm of Real defenders ensure Morientes' shot is blocked.
  • 31': Figo pops up on the left, bamboozles two players and then loses possession with a bad pass.
  • 32': Figo dances down the leftwing but can't get through. Carlos crosses and Roma collects.
  • 33': Helguera backs-off Prso and the striker opts to loft the ball to the back post rather than shoot. Plasil hits a volley straight at Casillas.
  • 34': Monaco are well on top at the moment and are asking questions of Madrid's defence.
  • 35': Zidane flicks the ball through to Ronaldo, who charges at the Monaco defence. Ronaldo flicks the ball to Raul and the Spaniard curls the ball past Roma from the edge of the box. GOAL!!
  • 36': That's a body blow for Monaco. Madrid weren't really in the game but the first bit of real skill they produced resulted in a well worked goal.
  • 37': Rothen flicks the ball down the flank for Evra, Salgado covers but concedes a corner.
  • 38': Casillas collects the cross. Raul shoots from the edge of the box but Givet blocks it with his face.
  • 39': Mejia hacks down Plasil. Monaco are patient but still can't find a cutting edge.
  • 40': Plasil gets caught by Figo and goes down clutching his achilles.
  • 43': Plasil has received treatment and the game gets back underway.
  • 43': Borja brings down Evra by the corner flag. The ref gives the freekick the other way but Rothen collects the clearance and Monaco are back on the attack.
  • 44': On-loan Real Madrid striker Morientes looks up and fires a speculative 30-yard shot into row Z.
  • 44': Evra whips the ball in from the left. Morientes nods down to Guily, who fires a daisy-cutter past Casillas. GOAL!!
  • 45': The Monaco skipper has levelled the scores before the break with a vital goal for the French club's hopes.
  • 45': All square at the break, but Monaco still need two goals and now have 45 minutes less to score them in.
  • 46': Monaco get the second-half underway.
  • 46': Prso out jumps Helguera and knocks the ball down for Morientes, who has his shot blocked.
  • 47': There are two balls on the pitch but play goes on and Guily bares down on goal. He shoots straight at Casillas from a tight angle.
  • 48': Evra whips in a deep cross for Morientes, who leaps higher than Meija and drives a towering header past Casillas. GOAL!!
  • 49': Excellent header from the former Real man and now Monaco need one more goal to force extra-time.
  • 50': Carlos whips in a corner, Roma fumbles but collects at the second attempt.
  • 51': Carlos gallops down the left and cuts inside Ibarra. The defender pulls the ball back for Ronaldo, who blasts a 30-yard shot over the bar.
  • 52': Rothen beats two players down the left flank. Guily works the ball across the box and Plasil shoots over from the edge of the area.
  • 53': Mejia cuts out a long pass. But Monaco are pressing Madrid back.
  • 54': Zidane tracks back to tackle Guily and Cisse barges Guti off the ball. Zidane skirts the edge of the area and draws a foul from Cisse.

  • 56': ...Carlos takes his long run-up but Figo curls a shot over the wall. Roma dives to his right and collects the shot.
  • 57': Raul flicks the ball out to Figo, who whips in a first time cross. Ronaldo arrives at the near post but Roma blocks the Brazilian's shot.
  • 58': Monaco break down the other end and Casillas is forced into a good save from a Morientes shot.
  • 59': It's end to end stuff now, Monaco are searching for that vital goal and Madrid have found some urgency at last.
  • 60': Monaco make a change. Nonda, last season's top scorer in France, replaces Prso.
  • 61': Borja gets booked and then hauls down Guily. Rothen chips the resulting freekick over the bar.
  • 62': Nonda runs at the Real defence and Helguera blocks the striker's run. Freekick on the left of the area.
  • 63': Rothen hits the first man and Real break with Figo. Borja gets caught on the ball by Guily but the Monaco skipper plays a poor ball forward to Nonda.
  • 64': Figo fouls Cisse. Plasil attempts to thread a ball into the box but it's cut out.
  • 65': Ibarra drives down the right, cuts inside and fires off a low shot. Guily gets a flick on the strike and guides the ball past Casillas. GOAL!!
  • 66': It's 3-1 in Monaco, 5-5 on aggregate and as it stands Monaco will go through on away goals.
  • 67': Ibarra looks to draw a foul from Carlos, the defender takes a dive when the challenge doesn't come and the ref shakes a finger.
  • 68': Zidane looks up to pick a pass, Plasil hounds him into a hurried ball and wins possession for Monaco.
  • 69': Carlos hooks the ball clear under pressure from Guily. Plasil hoists the ball upfield and Casillas claims ahead of Nonda.
  • 70': Madrid make a change. Solari is on for Borja.
  • 71': Zidane drives into the box, lures in two defenders and takes a tumble as he looks to shoot. The ref takes a good look and decides not to give a penalty. Zidane has taken a knee in the nads for his troubles.
  • 72': Raul heads home a Carlos cross but the flag is up for offside - much to Raul's disgust.
  • 73': Evra bamboozles Salgado and plays the ball back to Rothen, whose cross is collected by Casillas.
  • 74': Cisse makes a hash of his clearence but makes amends by closing down Figo before he can shoot.
  • 75': Ibarra gets past Mejia with ease but his showboat cross doesn't find its target.
  • 76': Rothen finds Nonda in space on the right. The striker struggles to get the ball under control, then curls a shot past Casillas and over the bar.
  • 77': Rothen releases Nonda down the left flank. The striker cuts inside Salgado but Helguera makes a covering tackle.
  • 78': Rothen wins a corner, via Salgado's nuts (he is squirming on the floor) and will take it himself.
  • 79': Nonda heads Rothen's corner against the post and Carlos scrambles the ball away.
  • 80': Monaco make a change, Guily is replaced by the more defensive El Fakiri.
  • 81': Fakiri's first contribution is to flash a teasing cross agonizingly out of reach of Morientes.

  • 83': Morientes leaves the field to a standing ovation and is replaced by Adebayor.

  • 89': Nonda break as real push forward. Nonda isolates his defender and flicks the ball inside to Adebayor, whose shot strikes the post.
  • 90': That's twice the French side have hit the woodwork and could pay the price as Salgado probes the rightflank...
  • 90': ...Salgado crosses and Ibarra manages to flick the ball away from the waiting Ronaldo.
  • 90': The Monaco fans want the final whistle as Zidane drives forwards and the defence back off.
  • 90': Zidane looks up and aims for Raul at the back post. Roma comes to punch, misses, and Raul hooks his shot over the bar from a tight angle.
