UGA sets school mark for fewest points allowed in SEC game

The Lady Bulldogs defeated South Carolina by an identical score in the 2011 SEC tournament.

In their Jan. 17 matchup against the Razorbacks, the Lady Bulldogs trailed by 15 before rallying for a 57-53 win. This time, Georgia (22-4, 10-3) surged to an 18-4 lead and went into halftime ahead 30-16.

"The thing that was cool," said Lady Bulldogs coach Andy Landers, "was that we played so hard early, and when we needed to go to the bench it didn't fall off. Everyone looked terrific."

Georgia opened the second half with a 17-6 spurt, eventually pushing its advantage to 34 points.

Landers said his players stayed "focused and relentless."

"We don't always play two halves and they've heard that and we've been trying to address it," he said. "Now it's time to get it all right and we're doing that."

Arkansas, which shot 26.4 percent from the field (14 of 53), posted its lowest output since losing to No. 14 Vanderbilt 61-34 on Jan. 28, 2007.

Jasmine James added 12 points for the Lady Bulldogs

Dominique Wilson and Erin Gatling scored eight points apiece for the Razorbacks (17-9, 5-8), whose two-game winning streak ended.

Georgia shot 40 percent from the field (26 of 55) and outrebounded Arkansas 50-31, including 21 offensive boards.

Landers now has 899 career wins, counting an 82-21 record at Roane State College from 1974-79 before becoming Georgia's first full-time coach. Landers is 817-272 in 34 seasons with the Lady Bulldogs. The NCAA does not recognize Landers' wins at Roane because it is not a four-year institution.
