The senior forward scored 18 points, and the Longhorns beat No. 6 Stanford 87-81 in overtime Thursday night.

Empress Davenport added 13 points in the Longhorns' first win over a top-10 team in almost six years. Enemkpali was 8-for-11 from the field and 2-for-2 at the line.

"I think this is the re-establishing of this program," Enemkpali said. "The feeling I had tonight is something I haven't experienced at all since being here."

It was Stanford's first game since it beat No. 1 Connecticut 88-86 in overtime Monday night, snapping the Huskies' 47-game winning streak. The Cardinal had won 28 straight games at Maples Pavilion.

Lili Thompson had 28 points for Stanford (2-1), and Amber Orrange scored 15.

"Texas came out extremely aggressive; they had more energy than we did. They didn't back down," Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer said. "They had a lot of people contributing."

Enemkpali's layup with 2:48 left in regulation lifted Texas to a 73-71 lead. But Bonnie Samuelson responded with a 3-pointer with 1:43 remaining, putting Stanford in front.

The Cardinal had a 75-73 lead when Davenport converted a bank shot in traffic with 1.3 seconds to play, sending the game to overtime.

"I just had to put my head down and go to the basket," Davenport said.

Ariel Atkins had a key 3-pointer as Texas (2-0) outscored Stanford 12-6 in the extra period. Brady Sanders and Brooke McCarty each had a big jumper for the Longhorns in OT.

Texas had four players score in double figures and enjoyed a 44-37 rebounding edge. Atkins finished with 16 points, and Kelsey Lang had 14 on 7-of-12 shooting.

The Longhorns led 43-37 at halftime.

"Stanford is a tough place to play," Texas coach Karen Aston said. "We are a much better shooting team than we were last year. We did a really good job making adjustments after our first game."

Kaylee Johnson had seven points and 13 rebounds for Stanford.

"Texas played very well, and they were extremely motivated," VanDerveer said. "They got the better of us tonight."
